For over twenty five years, Alan G. Sherwood has provided leadership expertise in managing institutional advancement programs in the healthcare and education setting in fifteen states. Sherwood has served on the senior management team as Chief Development Officer of two large regional referral hospitals. Currently, he owns and operates two small successful businesses: 1) Sherwood Consulting Services, Inc., a multifaceted consulting company that specializes in capital and endowment campaigns, planned giving programs, executive search and career coaching. He works in the Mid-West and Rocky Mountain West having served clients from Albuquerque New Mexico to Bemidji, Minnesota. Ron Huddleston and Alan work jointly on client development, fundraising management and executive recruiting. Alan specializes in small to mid-size non-profits which normally do not get the attention of larger fundraising consulting firms. Alan brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to The Huddleston Group.
In addition to his consulting, Alan was the weekly host of Successfully Unemployed (on TOGInet Radio) which provides a hope-filled and comprehensive approach to the job-search process from an author who has experienced it all. Sherwood offers a threefold perspective and experience that few, if any, other authors provide: 1) He lost his job as vice president of his state’s largest hospital. 2) He found a more fulfilling job by following the guidelines he shares in his book. 3) Sherwood later created a dream job by starting a consulting firm, also by following the principles he outlines in his book.
Alan’s book, SUCCESSFULLY UNEMPLOYED; Moving From Job Loss To More Fulfilling Work, the book will be published Summer of 2012. The book teaches the suddenly unemployed how to turn what appears to be a tragedy into a personal and professional triumph. Through the book and show he helps people become more successful at finding or creating a job.
Sherwood is an experienced public speaker with excellent verbal and written communication skills. He has the proven ability to establish strong rapport and effective relationships with a variety of constituencies. Insulin diabetic since age six, Sherwood knows what it means to proactively move forward with the right attitude, skill, and perseverance.
